Xbox has put the rumors to rest: Gears of War: E-Day will not be making its way to PS5. A leaked image showing a PS5 logo next to the game’s title had fans buzzing, but Xbox insists it was never part of the plan.

The mix-up started when an Xbox Podcast mistakenly featured artwork listing PS5 as a launch platform for the gritty prequel. This led many to believe that Gears of War: E-Day might be going multiplatform. However, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 that the game is sticking to Xbox and PC.

Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg clarified any confusion, stating, “I can confirm this is not true,” about the game being pulled from PS5 at the last minute. Even though Gears of War: Reloaded made its way to PS5, it seems Microsoft is keeping E-Day close to home, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud, and Steam.

As the gaming world waits for the October 6 release, keep an eye out for any more surprises from Xbox’s exclusivity strategy. And if you’re a fan of all things Xbox, you might want to check out the new translucent green Xbox Series X launching soon!
