Good news for parents: Spotify is expanding its free kid-friendly accounts to more countries, giving your little ones their own space to enjoy music safely. This matters because it lets kids under 13 have fun with music while keeping your own playlists and recommendations intact.
Starting today, parents in the US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, and the Netherlands can set up a managed account for their child. These accounts, which were initially part of the Premium Family plan, offer personalized recommendations and playlists without the worry of inappropriate content. Videos and looping visuals are disabled by default, ensuring a purely audio experience for the kiddos. With Spotify’s new voice feature, controlling music is easier than ever!
The expansion doesn’t stop there. Canada, New Zealand, and several countries in Europe and Latin America are next in line. These accounts come packed with privacy features: no messaging, private profiles, and explicit content filters. While the kids enjoy their tunes, you can rest easy knowing your Spotify Wrapped will stay true to your tastes, unless those car sing-alongs sneak in!
To get started, open the Spotify app, navigate to the menu, and choose to add a child under 13. Keep an eye out for more updates as Spotify continues to refine its family-friendly features.
