Roblox just dropped a game-changing feature called “Build,” and it’s all about making game creation super easy for everyone. Imagine crafting your own game just by typing a few words on your phone. That’s right—no need for coding skills! Whether you want to create a cozy forest adventure or any other quirky idea, the AI does the heavy lifting for you.
This cool tool is powered by a blend of open-source and Roblox’s own AI models, handling everything from gameplay mechanics to sound. But there’s a flip side—some folks worry about a flood of low-quality games flooding the platform. This concern isn’t unique to Roblox; it’s part of a broader industry debate, with 52% of industry pros voicing concerns about AI in gaming, according to a recent survey. ZeniMax Online and others are facing similar challenges with AI and leadership changes shaking things up.
To tackle these concerns, Roblox plans to rank AI-generated games based on player retention. So, if no one plays a game, it won’t take up prime real estate on the platform. Starting July 28, users in New Zealand aged nine and up can try this feature, with older users able to share their creations worldwide. Plus, Roblox is cooking up more AI goodies like playtesting assistants and analytics tools.
