Instagram’s Latest Move: Meet Instants

Instagram is shaking things up again with a new app called “Instants,” and this time it’s all about sharing photos the Snapchat way. Launched in Italy and Spain, Instants lets you send disappearing photos that vanish after 24 hours. If you’re in those regions, you can give it a whirl on both iOS and Android.

Instants is all about keeping it real with unedited photos and videos. You can send these to your close friends or mutual followers, but don’t expect fancy editing tools—just a simple text option. This move by Instagram might remind you of Snapchat and Instagram’s previous attempts to adopt similar features. It’s a push towards authenticity, a theme Instagram’s been keen on lately.

Whether Instants will expand beyond Europe or get a desktop version is still up in the air. But it’s an interesting choice by Meta to create a standalone app, especially as apps like BeReal and Snapchat aren’t as dominant as they used to be. For more on Instagram’s new features, check out their recent Android rollout of Instants.

Keep an eye out for any updates on Instants, especially if you’re eager to test it out closer to home.
