YouTube Boosts AI Video Labels for Transparency

YouTube is stepping up its transparency game by making AI-generated content labels more prominent. Why does this matter? Well, it lets viewers know exactly how much of what they’re watching was made by artificial intelligence.

At Google I/O 2026, Google announced shiny new features for creators to whip up AI content, especially for YouTube Shorts. The latest update ensures that AI-generated videos will sport a noticeable ‘AI’ label. So, whether it’s a remix or a full-on AI production, you’ll see this label right above the channel icon on longer videos or in the bottom left on Shorts.

Creators have the option to voluntarily apply this label when uploading, but if they skip it, YouTube’s automatic AI detection will step in. If your video gets tagged by mistake, don’t worry—you can update the status in YouTube Studio, unless it’s content using YouTube’s own AI tools or contains specific metadata. As AI continues to shape the digital world, keep an eye on these updates. They’re designed to keep content creation transparent and trustworthy.
