Big news for hoop fans: YouTube TV has stepped down as the presenting sponsor of the NBA Finals. Since 2018, we’ve been seeing their ads everywhere during the finals, but that’s changing this year.
The NBA confirmed that the sponsorship deal with YouTube TV is over, as reported by Awful Announcing. This marks a return to the pre-YouTube era for the Finals. The change aims to bring back some of the glamour and prestige that might have been overshadowed by the heavy advertising. Interestingly, a tweet from January still showed YouTube TV in the mix, but now the Finals are simply “Presented by Google.” Talk about a major shuffle!
If you’re catching the games, the 2026 NBA Finals kicked off on June 3 with the New York Knicks taking on the San Antonio Spurs. It’s an exciting time, especially since we know that YouTube Music has been making its own changes too.
If you’re a YouTube TV subscriber, don’t forget there’s a sweet deal for a 50% discount on a Google TV Streamer if you’re looking to upgrade your setup. Keep an eye on how these sponsorship shifts might affect future NBA partnerships!
