YouTube TV Users Score Win in Disney Lawsuit

Big news for YouTube TV subscribers! They’ve just won a $50 million settlement from Disney over claims the media giant was driving up streaming costs. While this court win is a small victory, it sadly won’t lower your bills just yet.

In late 2022, a group of YouTube TV users filed a class action lawsuit against Disney, accusing it of inflating streaming prices by bundling ESPN in base packages. This move supposedly forced up costs for services like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV. The lawsuit highlighted Disney’s influence over streaming prices since taking control of Hulu. If you subscribed to YouTube TV or similar services between April 2019 and March 2026, you might be eligible for a slice of the settlement pie.

While Disney isn’t admitting any wrongdoing, the agreement requires them to consider letting partners carry fewer channels. However, there’s no solid requirement for change, so don’t hold your breath for cheaper subscriptions just yet. This isn’t the first time Disney and YouTube TV have clashed over costs, as seen in their very public spat in late 2025. For more on how media giants handle disputes, check out YouTube’s recent lawsuit settlement.

Keep an eye on your inbox for any updates on the settlement if you’re a subscriber. In the meantime, explore other streaming options or check your current settings to get the most out of your streaming experience.
