Switch 2 Becomes Second Fastest-Selling Console in US

The Nintendo Switch 2 is making waves as it becomes the second fastest-selling console in US history, just behind the Game Boy Advance. In just 12 months, it’s already sold 5.9 million units. This is big news for gamers and Nintendo fans, especially with the console market facing some tough times.

While the Switch 2 celebrates this milestone, PlayStation and Xbox aren’t having the best time. PlayStation 5 sales nosedived by 58% due to recent price hikes, marking its worst May since 2000. Meanwhile, Xbox didn’t fare any better, recording its lowest May sales ever. The rising costs are a common thread here, as both consoles have seen significant price increases due to a component shortage.

This shortage, fueled by high demand from AI data centers, is unlikely to ease up soon. With Microsoft predicting another price bump by 2027, gamers might need to brace for more expensive consoles or hold off for potential new releases. In the meantime, keep an eye out for sales and deals, like the PlayStation deals on Prime Day, to snag a bargain.
