Minecraft’s New Feature: Cushions for Sitting

After 17 years of exploring and building, Minecraft fans finally have a cozy place to sit. Yes, cushions are making their way into the game, offering adventurers a new way to relax. This might sound trivial, but for a game that has captivated millions, it’s a pretty big deal.

Previously, players could only use beds for a bit of comfort, but now, craftable cushions bring a new level of coziness. Available in 16 colors, these cushions require three Wool Slabs of the same color to craft. Alongside cushions, Minecraft is also introducing straw beds, which allow players to sleep through the night without changing their spawn point, although they’re single-use and won’t work in the Nether or The End.

While this update brings some fun changes, it’s not all sunshine at Mojang. Recent Microsoft layoffs hit Xbox-owned studios, including Mojang, affecting thousands of employees. It’s a major shake-up, with many studios like Double Fine and Ninja Theory set to go independent.

Keep an eye out for these updates to hit the full game later this year, and if you’re part of the Minecraft Preview, you can try them now. Let’s see how these changes unfold amid the industry’s evolving landscape.
