Sony to Remove 550+ Digital Movies from PSN Accounts

Heads up, PlayStation users! Sony has announced it’s planning to delete over 550 digital movies from your PSN accounts. Why? It all boils down to a licensing agreement with Studio Canal. This matters because if you’ve purchased any movies through the PlayStation Store, they might vanish by September 1, 2026.

The warning started popping up in emails, and Twitter user @somatyk was quick to share the news. Sony was pretty blunt about it: come September 2026, any Studio Canal content you own will be wiped from your video library. Curious about which titles? You can find the full list on PlayStation’s website. It includes popular flicks like ‘Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut’, ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, and even ‘Paddington’.

This isn’t the first time Sony has pulled a move like this. Back in December 2023, they announced a similar removal of Discovery content but later backtracked after some serious backlash. As the conversation around digital ownership heats up, consider checking out why some popular games won’t run on Steam Machine or how FSR 4 boosts Valve’s new Steam Machine performance.

So, what should you do? Keep an eye on any updates from Sony and maybe start considering other platforms for your movie collection. After all, digital ownership might not be as permanent as we think.
