In a chat with Bloomberg, Steam Machine engineers Yazan Aldehayyat and Pierre-Loup Griffais shared that the memory crunch is only worsening. It seems the shelves are lagging behind the actual supply issues by a good few months. This means the already hefty price tags—$1,049 for the base model and $1,428 for the 2TB version—might not see relief soon.
The memory shortage isn’t just a Valve problem. It’s affecting the tech world as a whole. Bethesda, for example, is also navigating rocky tech waters amid industry challenges. Not to mention, Valve’s Steam Deck has been facing similar demand issues.
